When High Carbon Steel Is the Right Wire

High carbon steel wire is harder and stronger than mild steel, so it suits screens that face abrasive material and constant shaking. It is the usual pick for heavy screening in mines, quarries and coal handling, where the mesh must hold its opening under load.

High Carbon, Mild, Galvanized or Stainless?

High carbon steel for strength and wear resistance in dry, abrasive screening.

Mild steel (M.S.) for lighter, lower-cost work where wear is not severe.

Galvanized iron (G.I.) when the mesh will see moisture and a zinc coating is needed against rust.

High carbon steel is not stainless, so tell us if the mesh will sit in damp or corrosive conditions and we will suggest a better material.

Four Ways We Weave It

High carbon wire mesh manufacturers - crimped mining grade mesh

• Woven wire cloth: openings from 1 micron to 2600 micron, up to 5 metres wide. See square mesh wire cloth.
• Crimped wire mesh: openings from 1 mm to 100 mm, wire 24 SWG to 5 SWG. See crimped wire mesh.
• Industrial heavy screens: openings from 6 mm to 150 mm. See industrial heavy screen.
• Vibrating screens: openings from 5 mm to 100 mm, wire 1 mm to 10 mm. See vibrating screen.

Heavy screens and crimped mesh come in widths of 1 to 7 feet and continuous lengths of about 100 feet.

Industries We Supply

Mines and quarries, ore and precious metals grading, coal preparation, foundries, waste management, water treatment plants, glass factories and agriculture and food processing all use these screens. Crimped mesh is also used for pig breeding and in hardware products.
