Hexagonal chicken wire mesh — SNAKE® Brand, Delhi

Murga jali is the common Indian name for hexagonal wire netting, also called chicken mesh. PARSH NATH MANUFACTURERS PVT LTD has produced and sold it for over 25 years in Delhi, under the SNAKE® Brand, in galvanized iron, galvanized iron drawn wire and stainless steel.

Below you will find the mesh sizes and wire gauges we offer, where murga jali is used, and how to pick the right one for your job.

What Is Murga Jali?

It is a flexible wire net made of six-sided openings, shaped like a honeycomb. The wires are twisted together at each joint, and this double-twist construction stops the net from unravelling even if one wire breaks. That makes it more stable than many single-twist nets.

Despite the name, it is not used only for poultry. It is one of the most widely used wire meshes across farms, factories and construction sites, because it is light, easy to cut and easy to bend around corners.

Double-Twist Hexagonal Weave Flexible & Easy to Cut GI & SS Options 4 Standard Mesh Sizes Custom Sizes on Request

Mesh Sizes and Wire Gauges

• 1/2 inch (13 mm opening): 28G to 20G wire
• 3/4 inch (20 mm opening): 28G to 22G wire
• 1 inch (25 mm opening): 25G to 18G wire
• 2 inch (50 mm opening): 20G to 15G wire

Smaller openings such as 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch are usually chosen where small birds or animals must be kept in or out. Larger openings such as 1 inch and 2 inch suit bigger enclosures and general fencing. A thicker wire (lower gauge number) gives a stronger net.

Where Murga Jali Is Used

Choosing the Right Material

Galvanized iron (GI) is the usual choice for fencing and cages, because the zinc coating protects the wire from rust. GI drawn wire is used where a firmer net is needed.

Stainless steel suits wet or corrosive surroundings, or any job where rust must be avoided. If you want a PVC-coated or custom version, ask us. For finer stainless weaves, see our stainless steel mesh page.
